Why this matters for one slot: in Germany the same Book of Ra deluxe runs with a €1 stake cap, a five-second pause between spins and no autoplay. How to start playing Book of Ra

The demo is the deluxe edition, the version most casinos list simply as “Book of Ra”. Greentube does not publish a public demo of the original Classic, of deluxe 6 or of Magic. On our versions page you will find screenshots and rules for each of them instead.

Use the demo to answer practical questions, not to “test luck”: how big is a typical line win at your bet, how does the expanding symbol look when it covers a reel, and where is the gamble button you may want to ignore. The demo cannot tell you whether the next real-money session will be good — every spin is random.

Book of Ra deluxe at a glance

How Book of Ra works

Wins pay left to right on the ten lines. The book replaces any symbol and pays anywhere as a scatter. Three books trigger ten free games; before they start, one symbol is chosen to expand over whole reels and pay on every line, even when the reels are not next to each other.

The book: wild and scatter in one symbol

The red book is the only special symbol in the base game. On a line it stands in for any other symbol, so a book next to two pharaoh masks counts as three masks. Anywhere on the screen it also pays as a scatter: three books return 2× the total bet, four return 20× and five return 200×, on top of starting the feature. Line wins and scatter wins are added together.

Free games with the special expanding symbol

When three or more books land, the game opens the book and picks one regular symbol at random. For the ten free games that symbol becomes “special”. After normal line wins are paid, if enough of the special symbol is on screen to form a win, each one expands to fill its whole reel and pays again on all played lines — and unlike normal wins, the reels do not need to be adjacent. Three more books during the feature give another ten games at the same bet.

This is why the explorer, the most valuable symbol, is the one players hope for: five reels of explorers on ten lines is where the game’s biggest results come from. With a card symbol like the 10, the same expansion pays far less. Which symbol you get is random; nothing you do changes it.

The gamble button

After a line win you can stake the win on the colour of a face-down card: guess right and it doubles, guess wrong and it is gone. The rules cap how much can be gambled — €500 at a €1 stake in the demo — and the option is off during autoplay. Gambling a win does not change the game’s long-term return, it only makes your results swing harder. In Germany each slot needs its own GGL approval, so the German version can differ from the demo; the German page explains what applies there.

Buy Bonus, new in 2026

In February 2026 Greentube added a Buy Bonus to Book of Ra deluxe: for 100× the total bet you can start the free games immediately. It is an operator option, so many casinos do not show it, and buying features is not allowed in some countries, Germany among them. A bought feature can pay less than its price — often it does.

Which Book of Ra should you play?

For most players the answer is deluxe: ten lines, a 95.10 % listed RTP and the official demo to practise on. Classic is the 2005 original with nine lines and a lower listed RTP. Deluxe 6 adds a paid sixth reel, and Magic lets several symbols expand at once.

The series has grown into a family: the Win Ways editions swap paylines for thousands of ways to win, Mystic Fortunes and the Jackpot Edition add jackpots, and Cash Connection mixes the book theme with a hold-and-win feature.
